Themed Environments

Themed Environments & Experience Strategy

My work begins with the experience: who is visiting, what should they discover, and why should the place matter to them? I connect research, narrative and business objectives with physical space, media and operating realities, then work with creative and technical teams to preserve that intent through delivery.

Macy’s Herald Square, Experiential Retail Concept & Executive Pitch

Through AOA, I developed a pitch for reimagining an upper-floor retail environment at Macy’s Herald Square in New York City with an experiential element. I led the in-person presentation to Macy’s chief marketing officer and the location’s general manager and operations team, translating the concept into a vision for retail leadership to evaluate.

This work was a proposed concept and executive presentation, not a completed renovation. It reflects my approach to the strategic question behind a physical experience: what should be created, why should people engage with it, and how can the idea serve the business and its operators?

My education includes a Master of Architecture in Themed Environment Integration from the University of Florida and undergraduate study in video production and business management at Florida Southern College. The selected projects below span built work, proposed development and academic concepts.

Preliminary blue sky conceptual work for a fully immersive location based experience addition to Macys Herald Square’s 9th Floor.

Other Projects

Rainforest Carwash

My goal with any project is the integration of themed environments practices in commercial spaces. With Rainforest, an existing but aging inventory presented an opportunity for repositioning and new development. I led the creative direction, construction management, and disposition of two new stores and two remodels.

Acuera Estates

Named after the indigenous tribe that once inhabited the area Acuera served as one of my early full cycle development projects. I was tasked with leading the creative development, design, and construction of the community.

Themed Concrete

Concrete is an important and widely used element within both the built and themed environment. Take a look at some of my sample concrete work here.

Projection Mapping

I have been working with projection mapping since 2015. I have created content and directed technical A/V for multiple stage shows, conferences, concerts, and more. You can see some of my work here.

The Falls at Drakes Pointe

The Falls at Drakes Pointe is a project that I led through blue sky, concept development, design documentation, municipal approval, and initial construction. It encompasses over 550 single family lots, 100k SF of RD&E facilities, a new canal with lake access, and a package utility plant for Water/Sewer.

The Tardis Adventure: A Dr. Who Experience

As a part of the Themed Environments Integration program at UF My team and I were tasked with developing a concept and scope for a given themed environment. This is the result of that project.

Octo Hubs

During our summer project development studio at UF my team and I worked to develop a solution to distanced collaboration. We created a virtual platform known as OctoHubs. It is a collaborative VR space.

Kelly Park Landing/Wyld Oaks

This project started as an expired DRI that I was brought in to re-design and permit. I negotiated with adjacent landowners and the city of Apopka to re-zone the site to a new Planned Unit Development based on the site plan and uses created by my team.

Avventura Veneziana

As a concept developed to highlight Italy’s history with the ocean this experience brings together the real and mythical elements of the sea in an exciting way. I created the analog model for the initial concept and pitch.

Themed Paint/Finishings

Paint and finishing are a critical part of themed environments as they support the story and enhance immersion. I have worked on multiple finishing projects involving props, sets, and permanent environments. A few samples can be seen here.
